Affordable Home Finance


A mortgage for an affordable home may be obtained from a private lending insitution such as a bank or building society or from the local authority.

Mortgages from Private Lenders

There are currently four private lending institutions which offer mortgages to affordable home applicants these are:

 

Local Authority Mortgages 

Local authorities can also provide mortgages for affordable home applicants. These mortgages are known as Annuity Loans and can provide up to a maximum of €220,000.  The income limit for a local authority loan is less €50,000 for a single applicant and less that €75,000 for joint applicants.  The mortgage term can be up to 30 years and mortgage repayments cannot be more than 35% of an applicant's net income.
