Social Housing Leasing Initiative
The Social Housing Leasing Initiative, commonly referred to as Social Leasing, is intended to provide local authorities with a new delivery mechanism for the provision of social housing. There are three distinct approaches under the initiative:
- Long-term leasing by local authorities from the private sector
- Direct arrangements between the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government and Approved Housing Bodies
- Temporary use of unsold affordable homes
Each of these approaches has their own unique arrangements.
